Busco Tu Gracia

Cast my tears up unto the clouds
     Console my wounded soul,
Hold my hands when I’m confused
Embrace me with your loving hands
     Let not my faith falter
     When things seem hopeless
Teach me to seek you instead
     For you are my fortress
In perplexities, I may look up
     And surrender my bondage
For you alone can fill me
     the true wisdom to understand
the true essence of living and loving
And you alone can make thine heart aglow once more.

The Blue Lagoon-a beach lovers’ paradise

In the northernmost part of  Luzon, somewhere in the secluded and almost deserted part of Brgy. Balaoi is a piece of heaven, truly a paradise for beach lovers wanting to escape citylife for a break. It is known as Malingay cove but more popularly as Blue Lagoon. No need for pretty intoduction, you need to witness it for yourself to discover the marvels of this place. But in case you’re wandering, the Blue Lagoon is surrounded by rolling hills, you can trail one of the summit for a majestic view of the the nearby islands. The most beautiful part is descending on your way to the beach and you can already glimpse the stretch of white sand and the turquiose blue seawater with verdant green hills as backdrop. Truly breathtaking, i will never tire of going back.

Highlights: Blue Lagoon is a crescent shaped secluded beach nestled in a lush rolling hills. Ideal for couples, family, or the solo traveler who wants to commune with nature. And its becoming popular to surfers  as the southern part is ideal for the surf enthusiasts. Visit other nearby tourist attractions such as the Dos Hermanos Islands, Patapat Viaduct, Bangui Windmills,Kaibigan Falls.

Location: Brgy. Balaoi, Maira-ira Point,Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines

How To Get There:  Take a 14 hours bus ride from Manila to Pagudpud. Too long? Fly via PAL from Manila to Laoag City, the province’s capital and from there, hire a van that will take you to the resort.

Accomodation: The author stayed at Mr. X house, the rent is cheaper, the family is very accomodating, and i felt like i’ve been living with them for quite sometime..lol. Maybe because of the homey athmosphere, and i got to mingle with other vacationist, locals and foreign national.

Best Time to Go: March, April, May, October, December. Year round if you’re not afraid of giant waves.

Vigan City-Home to Heritage Village and Famous Empanadas

Vigan is the provinvial capital of Ilocos Sur, a province in the Northewestern part of Northern Luzon. It is approximately 400km away from Manila and is accesible by bus or private car as long as you can endure the 8 hour drive. It has an aiport though but only chartered and private place can land on the strip,

I’ve been to this place several times and i never tire of its charm, always looking forward to discover new attraction or establishment as the city has been a popular tourist destination of the North. Famous for its well preserve spanish houses, Vigan is home to one of UNESCOs world heritage site for its ancestral houses that withstood centuries of cultural evolution but remnants of Spanish influence have been preserve in these houses.

Best time to Go

January-join the city fiesta and get handcrafted souvenirs, furniures and true iloko pillow cases and bed linens made of abel (cotton yarn).

May-particiapate the merry-making as this month celebrates the VIVA Vigan festival. Watch the calesa parade where calesas compete with each other for the most beautiful and creative costumes.

December-its not as hot during the Summer (April-May) but dont expect fewer visitors since balikbayans and foreigners as well also flock the place during this season.

Goodbye Tita Cory

Former President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino bid us goodby last August 01, 2009 after a yearlong battle with colon cancer.

Tita Cory, you will always be remembered…

Thank you for putting up with what you believe in, for restoring democracy in our homeland that we are now enjoying the fruits of your labour twenty five years ago, when you fought with grace and courage the dictatorial government of the Marcos regime. I was barely a child then, but because of your leadership the Filipinos has reclaimed their freedom. You are the pillar of strength, you’re unselfish way of sharing yourself, serving the country whilst being a mother and father to your children is a proof of your character, simple in the outside, yet you are a secure, brillant and strong woman inside. Not to mention you devoutness as a Christian, which i am sure helped you a lot in your political battles up to your suffering from colon cancer that took you from us, your family and the whole nation. I know you are happy, very much happy in the kingdom of our Creator, i am sad that we lost a great leader, but i am more at peace knowing that your suffering has come to an end, and the gift of eternal life have been accorded to you in Paradise.
